AMA: Bruno Mars Wins Top Prize At American Music Awards

Bruno Mars took the top prize at the American Music Awards on Sunday at a show that paid glowing tribute to legendary divas Diana Ross and the late Whitney Houston.


Mars, the retro star who found fresh success with the funky beats and R&B harmonies of his latest album "24K Magic," accepted Artist of the Year with a brief but enthusiastic speech recorded in a moving minivan, as Mars explained he was travelling.

The Presidency on Thursday morning broke its silence on the whereabouts of President Goodluck Jonathan’s wife, Patience. The Media Assistant to Mrs. Jonathan, Mr. Ayo Adewuyi, in a statement made available to journalists in Abuja said the President’s wife is currently in Congo. He said Mrs. Jonathan was in the country to join her colleagues from Africa for the celebration of the 30th anniversary of a non-governmental organisation, Congo Assistance Foundation, floated by the Congolese First Lady, Madam Antoinette Sassou-Nguesso. Adewuyi however did not indicate when Mrs. Jonathan arrived Congo or when she is expected back in Nigeria. He only said his principal was received on arrival by Nigeria’s Ambassador to Congo Brazzaville, Princess Onipede, in company of top Congolese officials. Robbers attack Giwa FC

Giwa FC players were attacked on Monday on their way to Umuahia to honour a Glo Premier League Week 21 match against Abia Warriors. The robbery incident occurred at 9th Mile around Enugu about 10:35 pm. Sammy Adesoji, one of the officials of the team, said some of the players in the bus lost their mobile phones and cash to the hoodlums.
