There was pandemonium among workers and intending travelers on Tuesday at the premises of Delta Line in Asaba following the discovering of strange objects, including a dead cock, which were feared to be sacrificed objects.
It was alleged that the workers of the transport company had engaged themselves in a juju warfare following perceived injustices.
The junior workers who claimed to have been sidelined and made miserable, had reportedly vowed to make the company a shadow of itself at all costs.
A driver in the company (Name withheld) said, “Apart from the strange substances, the company is bedeviled with witchcraft as many of us that have been cheated and sidelined by the so called management officers have taken their matters to the covens.
Investigation revealed that strange substances had been found in the company in the past.
An employee of the company who did not want his name in the print, however, dismissed the juju war, saying, “Yes, there is crisis in the company, workers have not been paid, I do not know of the juju war or strange substances found at the premises, all I know is that they are internal crisis over alleged misappropriation of funds”.
Speaking to our correspondent, the state Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade David Ofoeyeno, said it was necessary for Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s intervention, saying that over 700 workers on the pay roll of the transport company had been going through difficult times as a result of unpaid salaries.
He said, “Delta Line needs serious overhauling because of the serious crisis bedeviling the company, there are serious problems in the company but I thank Gov. Okowa for his prompt intervention to help the company grow”.
Meanwhile, Okowa has approved the removal from office of the company’s General Manager, Mr. Eyione Isaiah, the company’s Secretary, Mr. Henry Ogichigba; and the auditor, Mr. Frank Preh for alleged misappropriation of funds meant for the company.
It was alleged that the company’s General Manager, Isaiah, and others squandered some amount of money running into millions of naira; an allegation Eyione described as untrue, describing his present predicament as the handiwork of his enemies.
