The listing however shows great disparities in ranking as some institutions with less than 50 students who sat in the examinations topped the list as some recorded up to 290 students for the same exams.
According to the Standard, officials at KNEC who spoke to the newspaper said they wanted ranking reintroduced and implemented but in a better way.
This was after Education CS Fred Matiang’I said that the issue was being looked into, noting that ranking is a matter of ‘great national interest’.
Former Education Secretary Enos Oyaya noted that the previous methods of ranking had loopholes that could be sealed to restore credibility to the exercise.
“The candidate’s entry behavior, number of students per school, co-curriculum activities and special interest candidates must form the basis of ranking,”said Oyaya as quoted in the Standard.
He also added that there was unfair competition between schools that admitted students who scored 400 marks and above in KCPE and those who the schools that admit those who scored less, yet only one merit list of top 100 schools was produced.
National education officials felt that should the ranking be introduced, then only 40% of the meriting should be based on examinations and the rest based on all aspects of schooling.

See Wooden Bridge Constructed By Young Men In Adamawa State Without Government Support

This wooden bridge was constructed by young men in Adamawa without government support. The old bridge was destroyed by Boko Haram. It was a very important bridge that connects Adamawa North and Adamawa Central. Even the governor and other important people in the state use this wooden bridge when they visit their villages. Instead of rebuilding the bridge, the Adamawa state government recently announced that it will spend 200 million Naira on prayer warriors. I believe that is a misuse of public money. Nigerians are praying daily. You don't need to spend millions on prayers. The North East states have a lot of work to do in rebuilding the communities and infrastructures destroyed by Boko Haram. I don't think the governors in the region understand the magnitude of the problem. It is time for them to wake up and get their priorities right. If you know the Adamawa State governor, tell him that rebuilding this bridge is an important and urgent project.
