12 Rivers indigenes head for UK on scholarship

AN investment outfit, Elano Nigeria Limited, has awarded postgraduate scholarships to 12 indigenes of the Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The Chairman, Board of Education Committee of the firm, Prof. Walter Ollor, stated this while addressing the beneficiaries and other stakeholders in the state.
Ollor, who said that no fewer than 100 candidates participated in the qualifying examination, noted that the process was transparent and competitive.
According to him, the initiative will help to grow the next generation of leaders who will drive the development of the host communities.
Ollor said, “The decision to establish a Community Development Fund from the dividends earned on the 7.5 per cent equity allocated by the Federal Government of Nigeria to the host communities of the company was that of the board of directors. Today, we are happy to announce that it is now yielding multiplier effects.”
