Sunshine Queens defeat Bayelsa on penalties to win Women’s Federation Cup

Sunshine Queens of Akure claimed the 2015 Women’s Federation Cup on Sunday at the Teslim Balogun Stadium following a 3-1 penalty shootout victory against Bayelsa Queens.

Both sides were tied at 1-1 after regulation time and penalties was needed to determine the winner.
Kalu Patience put Bayelsa Queens ahead in the 65tb minute and they looked to be coasting until the Akure Babes rallied back to scored the equaliser.
It came 10 minutes after the opener through Shola Oyewusi, who scrambled the ball home after the Bayelsa Queens keeper failed to hold on to the ball.
In the ensuing shootout, Sunshine Queens converted three of their kicks, while Bayelsa were only able to put one home.

Taraba urged to increase resources to curb HIV/AIDS

The Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS in Nigeria (NEPWHAN) has called on the Taraba State Government to comply with the global-based recommendations by allocating 15 percent of the state’s budget to the health sector. The Taraba State Chapter of the group also called on the state House of Assembly to prioritize the disease in their budgetary allocation for the year 2015/2016. The call was made on Tuesday during the commencement of a five-day massive awareness campaign on the disease by NEPWHAN in collaboration with the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) -SURE-P HIV/AIDS programme.
