Police discover N60m Indian hemp in Kano house

The Kano State Police command has discovered 24,000kg of Indian hemp worth N60 million in a house at Ja’een Yamma area in Sharada quarters, Kano.
The Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Katsina, made this disclosure on Friday in Kano while presenting the drugs before newsmen.

Katsina said three suspects had been arrested in connection with the crime, while the principal suspect and owner of the drug, one Yusuf Ali, was now at large.
He said: “The house serves as depot for dangerous drugs as marijuana, cocaine, depressants and other dangerous intoxicants.
“It also serves as hideout for criminal gangs who consume these intoxicating drugs, get high and attack innocent people.”
Katsina said the police also arrested one Sani Ibrahim at Unguwa Uku Quarters, who transports Indian hemp from Benin City to Kano.
He said the police “special ambush squad” also arrested 20 suspected drug dealers and consumers at Sabon Gari Market.
The Commissioner said the suspects were arrested between November 1 and 12.
He listed items recovered from them to include 28 cartons of 200mg of tramadol tablets, 10 cartons of 100mg of the same product and 13 cartons of assorted intoxicants.
He urged the public to continue to cooperate with security agents in their efforts to rid the state of criminals and criminal activities.
