Nigeria lost two great leaders n Tor Tiv, Wada’s death – Saraki

President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has described as touching the death of the Chairman, Benue State Traditional Council and paramount ruler of the Tiv Kingdom, the Tor Tiv, Alfred Akawe Torkula.

In a similar development, Dr. Saraki also expressed sadness over the demise of a former Minister of Defence in the first Republic and the Magaji Garin Kano, Alhaji Muhammed Inuwa Wada.
Saraki commiserated with the Royal family, Benue State Traditional Council and the governments and people of Benue and Kano States over the passage of the distinguished Nigerians.
The Senate President in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yusuph Olaniyonu, stated that the fourth Tor Tiv, installed over two decades ago, lived for peace and would be remembered for his frank disposition and love for his subjects.
“These virtues distinguished him among other traditional rulers.‎ His death has left a big vacuum that would be hard to fill considering his sincerity, stable and patriotic nature. His Royal Highness was an embodiment of nobility.
“He was selfless and progressive in all his undertakings in life. He worked for the unity of our country”, Saraki stated.
Saraki also described the late Wada as a fine parliamentarian and foremost public servant, whose service to the nation was exemplary.
“I admire the person of late Alhaji Inuwa Wada. As a veteran parliamentarian, he was one of the founding fathers who risked all for the survival and independence of Nigeria and till death, he remained committed to the course of a greater and prosperous Nigeria,” Saraki stated.
While praying that the Almighty God should grant the souls of the departed elder-statesmen eternal rest, Saraki urged the governments of Benue and Kano States to immortalize the two senior citizens.
