Kwara to immunise 767,200 children against measles

The Kwara State Government said a total of 767,200 children (ages 1-5years), would be vaccinated against measles disease in the ongoing nation wide immunisation exercise.

The exercise will take place in 995 working points in the state covering all the 193 wards of the 16 local government areas in the state.
The Director, Kwara State primary Health Care and Disease Control,Ministry of Health, Dr. Abimbola Folorunsho, disclosed this at a media workshop held in Ilorin before the flag- off of the immunisation exercise.
Folorusho who spoke through the state’s Communications Consultant of the Project ,Dr Amina Yahaya said “the measles vaccines are safe”.
She assured parents and guardians that the injection will not cause paralyses as it will be given at the arm, even as she said mild cases of fever often reported in some children the past should not be cause for alarms.
The director assured that trained officers and medical personnel have bee equipped to carry out the job.
