Court convicts trader for stabbing woman on stomach

An Ogudu Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, on Friday convicted a 34-year-old trader, Hope Moses, for stabbing a lady with a kitchen knife.
The Magistrate, Sule Amzat, who convicted the trader after she pleaded guilty, adjourned the sentencing till Nov. 24.

Moses was arraigned on a one-count-charge of stabbing a lady with kitchen knife on the left side of her stomach.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Ihiehie Lucky, had told the court that the convict, a trader at Mile 12 Market, Ketu, committed the offence on Nov. 16.
Ihiehie said that the victim, Bassey Love, was at mile 12 motor garage when the convict accosted her and a quarrel ensued.
“They started fighting and the convict picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed the victim on the left side of her stomach.’’
He said that the wound was so deep that she had to be rushed to a nearby hospital.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 243 of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2011.
