Ooni-elect led to power house to be spiritually ‘fortified’

As the observance of traditional rites before the installation of the Ooni elect, Prince Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, as the 51st Ooni enters the second day, ‎reports said he has been led into the power house at the Ilofi to receive spiritual power.

Investigations revealed that ‎the traditional council members known as Isoros at the Ilofi Shrine bathed him with traditional herbs and later made to communicate with deities in order to fortify him spiritually.
A close source to the palace also said that the Ooni elect is currently being taken through some shrines at Ilofi, where sacrificial items like white pigeons, kola, palm oil and aligator peppers were used to invoke the spirits of deities and gods to guide him throughout the time he would lead the ancient town.
The source disclosed that the Ooni elect must be clothed in white apparel before certain traditional sacrifices could be offered and made acceptable by the gods.
He added that:“Cows and rams would be killed while their blood would be used to sprinkle the ground in accordance to the dictate of the gods.Other rites to be performed on the Ooni elect include lighting of the ancient traditional lamps.Each of the lamps has its significant role in the ancient town.None of the rituals could be exempted because they should be compulsorily carried out to appease gods if positive results are to be experienced after all.”
Meanwhile, the Oluomo of Ife and former Chairman Ife East Local Council in Osun State, Chief Gbenga Owolabi has congratulated Prince Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi on his emergence as the Ooni-elect.
He charged the Ooni elect to bring his vibrancy, wide contacts and wealth of business experience to bear in the development of Ile-Ife and Osun State.

The Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS in Nigeria (NEPWHAN) has called on the Taraba State Government to comply with the global-based recommendations by allocating 15 percent of the state’s budget to the health sector.
