Nasarawa varsity admits 4078 out of 24,000 candidates – Registrar

The Nasarawa State University, Keffi, on Friday said it admitted only 4,078 out of 24,614 candidates that applied for admission in to the 2015/2016 academic session.The Registrar of the university, Alhaji Dalhatu Mamman, disclosed this when the management of the institution appeared before the state House of Assembly Committee on Education, Science and Technology in Lafia.

He said the 2015/2016 admission followed due process in line with academic standard.“After thorough scrutiny of the candidates that applied for the 2015/2016 admission in to the university, over 4,000 candidates were given admission out of which 3,255 are indigenes of the state, while 823 that got the admission are non-indigenes,’’ said the registrar.According to him, 24,614 candidates applied for the 2015/2016 admission in to the university, out of which 12,133 are citizens of the state while 12,401 are non-indigenes.He added that the university admitted only 74 direct entry students out of 152 direct entry candidates that passed the school examination for the admission.The registrar restated the commitment of the university to continue to collaborate with the Assembly in order to improve on the standard of education in the state for the overall development of the country.
