“Superstar,” which painstakingly tells the story of a talented and aspiring young Nigerian musician from the ghetto and seeking stardom in the competitive Nigerian music industry, would hit cinemas nationwide on June 5, courtesy of Silverbird Distributions.

Leading the pack of famous entertainers who dazzled in the big budget film are music star, Iyanya; comedian turned actor, AY; Nollywood newest sensation, Angel Ufuoma; and rising hip hop act, Tekno.

Others are: veteran actor Jide Kosoko, Tina Amuziam, and Rachael Oniga. Comedy sensations, Funnybone; Pencil, ex-Mister Nigeria, Bryan Okwara, and Lilian Esoro are also among.
Abulu, who doubles as the CEO of Black Ivory Limited, an entertainment company with over 30 years experience in filmmaking, international distribution, marketing and African cultural exposition, stated that “Superstar” is billed to officially introduce the Nigerian music industry to the global market, thereby ushering in the much needed foreign exchange to further develop the vibrant music industry.

Speaking further from his New York base, Abulu explained why he decided to bring both musicians and movie stars together. According to him, “The Nigerian music industry, just like Nollywood, has amazing potentials.

The young folks against all odds have followed in the giant musical strides of the late icon, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, and emerged with a vibrant, pulsating, polyrhythmic and explosive brand of music that has the infectious potential to take the world by storm.

All they need now is a coordinated effort and support to package and present them as a solid Afrobeat brand and Nigeria will have yet another veritable foreign exchange earner like Nollywood.”

Emma Nyra, Ubi Frankling open up on their rift

It is no longer news that Triple MG boss, Ubi Franklin and his record label first lady, Emma Nyra have called it quits. Yes, and it was not a matter they resolved at a roundtable, the once chummy-chummy duo took each other to the cleaners and put up a bit of a show on social media to fill their fans in on all the shindig that went down. At a point in their creamier than cream relationship, the duo were virtually inseparable, which set tongues wagging that they must have been more than mere friends. While the hint of a relationship was being dropped around, neither Ubi nor Emma saw anything wrong with it. Until the song changed! According to reports, the song changed for them when Ubi Frankin proposed to Nollywood actress, Lilian Esoro, presumably, shunning his ward who has been waiting in the wings for years. The song went from sorry to sad when Emma Nyra reportedly blurted out in an interview that she was never romantically involved with Ubi. Now, the sad song went very bad wh...
