*Acting I.G.P, Mr. Solomon Arase

Gunmen on Monday kidnapped a Kogi High Court Judge, Justice Samuel Obayomi, and killed his orderly, Corporal Usman Musa, in an early morning attack.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that Obayomi of the Ebogogo High Court in the Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi State was kidnapped while on his way to work.

His driver, Ajayi Kolawole, told newsmen in Lokoja that the incident took place in front of the Executive Guest Villa at Okene GRA in the Okene Local Government Area of the state.

Kolawole said Musa was shot dead on the spot by the kidnappers in an operation that took place between 8.40am and 8.45am.

He described the three gunmen as heavily armed, unmasked and wearing dark glasses.

The driver said the gunmen ordered the judge and his aides to lie face-down.

Kolawole said the kidnappers opened fire on the orderly killing him on the spot.

NAN recalls that the judge had recently survived a ghastly accident and had just resumed work after three months in the hospital.

The Police Area Commander at Okene, Kehinde Kolawole, said the driver had been detained to help in police investigations.

The Chief Judge of the state, Justice Nasir Ajanah, who visited Obayomi’s family, told his wife to let him know as soon as the kidnappers made contact.

Ajanah promised that effort would be made to ensure the release of Obayomi.

What African Leaders should not do to save their Economies after COVID-19

Originally published on Herald Newspaper.   “When men attain power, they go crooked.” This piece is coming from an author, I, and the introductory quote is quite dubious enough but the truth is perpetually bitter. To open the curtain on this important discussion, I would like to congratulate several African leaders on the various precautionary measures they have instigated to hamper the raging spread of this plague. They should know that this is the dawn of a new era and certainly not the time to cast aspersions on who bears the onus or play politics on the suffering proletarians. Those residing in the hinterlands have successfully lost their sources of livelihood as almost every country has embarked on complete lockdown. The private sector, considered as elites, are even battling on how to pay their employees who are now on official vacation. The government as a whole cannot import their needs and have to dig into their reserves to try to keep every Tom, Dick, and Harr...
