Direct Flights Between Russia And Ukraine Banned

Direct flights between Ukraine and Russia will come to a halt on Sunday, as new sanctions initiated by Kiev comes into effect.

While Moscow initially called Kiev’s ban on Russian airlines “madness”, it soon announced it would mirror the move.
Ukraine, however, said that flights would end at midnight on Saturday, after last-minute crisis talks failed.
Up to 70,000 passengers a month would be affected.
The sanctions were intended to punish Russia for annexing Crimea and supporting Armed rebels in Eastern Ukraine.
However, two-thirds of all passengers travel on Russian airlines. Passengers will have to travel by train or via other countries.
