Woman dies after fighting over lover in Bauchi



A 30-year-old man, Nasiru Usman Banki alongside a lady are currently cooling their heels in custody of the Bauchi State Police Command over the death of his girlfriend in the State.
The State Police Spokesperson, DSP Haruna Mohammed said that the deceased, known as Iklima Alhassan, 28, who hails from Bukuru village in Plateau State, visited her lover, Nasiru, who resides at Rafin Makaranta area, behind Awala Hotel in the State.

Mohammed stated that trouble started when the deceased on getting to her lover’s apartment met another lady identified as Fatima Baba Isa, 22, of Makera ward, a situation which was said to have led to a fight between them.
He affirmed that,“On August 9, at about 12:50a.m., an unconscious young lady was found along Maiduguri by-pass, near Awalah Roundabout, Bauchi.
“The police patrol team attached to Tafawa Balewa Housing Estate Division visited the scene and rushed the victim to ATBU Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, where she was confirmed dead on arrival by a medical doctor and the corpse was deposited in the mortuary for post-mortem examination.”
Mohammed further disclosed that both Banki and the lady were currently assisting the Police in its investigation so as to unravel the mystery surrounding the death of the deceased.
