Senate Won't Reopen Till President Buhari Returns From U.S Trip

According to THE CABLE, the senate has postponed its resumption to put its house in order and present a common front to President Muhammadu Buhari when he returns from his US trip.

A statement announcing the postponement was issued on Friday by the acting senate clerk, the statement said, ''This is to inform all distinguished senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria that the resumption of the senate in plenary has been rescheduled from Tuesday, 21st July 2015 to Tuesday, 28th July, 2015''.

Explaining the reason for the postponement, a Senator who spoke anonymously said, ''Reconvening next week without resolving the outstanding matters would be unhelpful. So some of us reasoned that since the president would be away for a few days starting from this Sunday, we should not reconvene yet. Rather, we should use the opportunity to come together, sort out the contending issues and arrive at some workable agreements. By the time Buhari returns from his US trip, the senate would be ready for business''.
