The Union newspaper had on June 1st published a story on its front page alleging that “El-Rufai declared 90 billion naira and 40 Mansions” as assets.

The governor who filed his petition today at the state High Court Kaduna, was accompanied by his Deputy, Bala Bantex, his lawyers and top government officials to sign the writ of summons.
Speaking to journalists shortly after signing the writ at the court registry, El-Rufai denied having N90 billion asset and however, described the story as untrue, ‎malicious and damaging.
“I hope I lose the suit because if I have all these money, I would do a lot more for Kaduna State with the money.” El-Rufai stated.
Though he disclosed that he has declared his asset even before his swearing-in on May 29, 2015, he however did not disclose the total amount of asset declared at the Code of Conduct Bureau.
