Nigeria captain Vincent Enyeama buried his late mother Lucy on Saturday in his hometown of Urua Inyang, Akwa Ibom State.
The late Mrs Enyeama died in September as the Super Eagles prepared to take on Tanzania in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, which made Vincent unable to show up in camp.
The Nigeria Football Federation was represented by a strong delegation led by its president Mr Amaju Pinnick, who extolled the values that the goalkeeper’s mother cherished in her lifetime.
“One of those children that our dear mother, Mrs Lucy Enyeama, left behind is Vincent, one of the best goalkeepers in the world for several years now, a three –time FIFA World Cup star and winner of the Africa Cup of Nations, as well as several other accomplishments,” Pinnick said.
“The Nigeria football fraternity appreciates how much our Captain must be grieving at this period. His mother, Mrs Lucy Philip Enyeama was a very caring and compassionate parent, who gave her children much love and support during her lifetime.”
