A 23-year-old man, Ugochukwu Ekwe, took his life over the rejection of the colour of his skin at the Festac Town area of Lagos State, Vanguard reports.
Ugochukwu, who was an albino, was said to have committed suicide after refusing to eat since Saturday in protest of what he said was people’s rejection and stigmatisation because of his skin condition.
One of his siblings discovered the dangling body of the deceased from the end of a rope tied to the ceiling fan after the family returned from church on Sunday.
He was also said to have refused to go to church with other members of his family.
The mother of the deceased and other members of his family cried uncontrollably as sympathisers thronged their abode.
