8 Cultists Poly Students Arrested



No fewer than eight students, three of whom are from the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Ondo State have been arrested for alleged robbery and cult activities by the men of the Ondo State Police Command.

According to a police source, the suspected criminals were arrested with dangerous weapons including guns, knives and axes among others.

The source said the suspects include Akinboun Blessing, 21, from the Department of Public Administration ND 11, Fasanu Tolulope, 24, Department of Business Administration ND 11 and Alabi Oluwaseun, 26, of the Department of Business Administration ND (PT 111) of the RUGIPOLY, Owo.


The source disclosed further that one of the suspects, Fasanu, who said he was initiated into a secret cult in 2013, had confessed to being involved in various cult activities and rapes on the campus.

Some of the items recovered from them include one short locally-made gun, loaded cartridge, one battle dagger and one battle cutlass.

Also, another suspect, Alabi, confessed that he was initiated into the secret cult in 2013 and one dagger, one bag containing one locally-made cut-to-size single barrel gun, one battle cutlass and two cartridges were recovered from him.

It was gathered that he had been allegedly involved in robbing students who lived off campus and also in raping female students.
