#N'Idol: Winning Nigerian Idol came to me as a consternation — K-Peace

Winner of the 5th edition of Nigerian Idol sponsored by Etisalat Nigeria which wrapped up last Saturday, Kunle Ogunrombi popularly known as K-Peace has described his victory as a surprise, saying ‘I am overwhelmed getting to this stage.’

K-Peace emerged winner after beating eleven other finalists to clinch the star prize. The event which was characterised by glitz and glam, titillating dances and performances saw K-Peace smiling home with a brand new SUV car, cash prize of N7.5 million and a recording deal with Universal Music Company at the grand finale held at Dream Studios, Omole Phase 1, Lagos.

The journey began with performances from thousands of contestants at auditions that held in Benin, Abuja, Port-Harcourt, Ibadan and Lagos and K-Peace won the hearts of the judges and viewing audience, beating the first runner-up, Dolu in a grand finale. Dolu also went home with N1.5million, a Galaxy Tab, a phone and an iPad.

The highlight of the finale was the performance of Nigerian international singer, Asa who thrilled everyone with hit songs from her new album, ‘Bed of Stones’.

Speaking at the event, Chief Marketing Officer, Etisalat Nigeria, Francesco Angelone said the company recognised Nigerian Idol as a good platform to discover, nurture and celebrate young talented Nigerians. “Etisalat is living up to its reputation as a lifestyle brand that is passionate about the youth and Nigerian Idol is one of our platforms to celebrate Nigerian youths. This season, all the contestants have been amazing in their individual right and K-Peace particularly has been outstanding from the audition stage and we are glad that the voting public has crowned a winner deserving of the crown.”
