#KIDNAP!! Kidnappers of Kogi state council boss demand N30m ransom

The kidnappers of the Director of Personnel Management, Okenne Local Government Area of Kogi State, Mr. Idowu Adeyemo, have contacted his family and demanded a ransom of N30m for his return.

A family member, Mr. Jude Odofin, in a telephone interview with our correspondent in Ilorin on Friday, said Adeyemo was kidnapped by gunmen on Wednesday at about 11am.

He added that Adeyemo was driving a Toyota Corolla 2014 model car along Kabba-Okenne Road on his way to his office when he was abducted.

Odofin said the official car of the victim was abandoned while the council boss was abducted to an unknown place.

He claimed that the matter had been reported at the Okennne and Lokoja police stations.

But the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Collins Adebayo said he was not aware of the kidnap.

Meanwhile, Adebayo has said that it is untrue that the Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adeyemi Ogunjemilusi, had been kidnapped.

He said rumours of the CP’s kidnap were totally unfounded and false.

He urged the public to disregard such reports.

Adebayo said, “Throughout the week, however, some Media outlets and social media sites continued to spread stories that Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adeyemi Ogunjemilusi, had been kidnapped. This is not true. The CP remains at his duty post at the Police Command Headquarters, overseeing and directing police security and public order operations of Kogi State.

“These rumours constitute an unwanted distraction to the police command at this critical time, and could potentially create unease within the population.” (JAB)
