We Are Fulfulling Our Promise to Create Jobs for Nigerians - Lai Mohammed

The Minister of information and culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed has said that the Federal Government has fulfilled its promise to create jobs for Nigerians.

Speaking in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State during the South-South Town Hall Meeting organised by his ministry yesterday, a statement by his special assistant on media, Segun Adeyemi, revealed that “as more and more road construction works resume in the days ahead, thousands of Nigerians will also be returning to work,” thus fulfilling one of the campaign promises by the Federal Government to create more jobs.
Also, the Ministers listed some of the projects that will bring development to the people. He said the government will soon start the construction of Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Bode Sadu-Jebba road, Abuja-Lokoja road, Kano-Maiduguri road and the Loko and Oweto bridge linking Nasarawa to Benue.
According to him, the 2nd Niger Bridge which was added to the budget will soon take off.
“Still talking about jobs, an agreement has been signed to reposition the River Basin Development Authorities within the next 18-24 months. The agreement between the River Basin Development Authorities and the Songhai Farms of Benin Republic includes the training of unemployed youths in integrated farm practice. This programme is complimentary to the upcoming Youth Agriculture Empowerment Programme being planned by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development,” Mohammed said.

Alleged N108bn fraud: EFCC confiscates Governor Akpabio’s wife’s school

A school allegedly belonging to Unoma Akpabio, the wife of the immediate past governor of Akwa Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio, has been seized by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. One of our correspondents who visited the school, St. John Paul II School, in Shelter Afrique, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, observed that the school had been marked “under investigation by EFCC.” It was learnt that the EFCC resorted to marking the school instead of shutting it so that innocent parents and students who had paid school fees would not be adversely affected.
