41 year old man facing trail for allegedly defrauding friend of N350,000

The police on Thursday arraigned a 41-year-old man, Ahmadu Samboke, in a Mararaba Grade 1 Area Court, Aso Pada, for allegedly cheating a friend. Samboke of Ruga Maishai Mararaba, is standing trial on a three-count charge of criminal conspiracy, breach of trust and cheating.

The prosecutor, Cpl. Friday Adaji, told the court that one Attah Daniel of Aso Pada Mararaba, reported the matter at the Calvary Road Police Station on Nov. 30. According to Adaji, sometimes in April 2015, the accused demanded N350, 000 from the complainant, on the pretext that he would secure jobs for the complainant’s two brothers.
“The complainant gave the accused the money, but the accused neither secured the jobs nor refunded the money. “On Oct. 23, the accused was arrested and he wrote an undertaking to refund the money before the end of November, but he failed to do so,” the prosecutor added. He noted that the offences contravened Sections 97, 312 and 322 of the Penal Code.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty. The judge, Mr Albert Maga, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100, 000 with a surety in like sum and adjourned the case till Dec. 17, for further hearing.
