Super Eagles’ begin training in Belgium


Nigeria senior national team on Monday evening commenced training for the international friendlies with DR Congo and Cameroon.

The Super Eagles will face the Leopards on Thursday October 8 at the Stade de la Cite de l'Oie – home of Belgian division 3 outfit Royal Cercle Sportif Visé, before facing Volker Finke’s men at the Ros Beiaard Stadion three days later.
The training held at the R. Battice FC training ground saw the Chelsea midfielder lead the pack under the watchful eyes of coach Sunday Oliseh.
Others were goalkeeper Carl Ikeme, Elderson Echiejile, Efe Ambrose, William Troost-Ekong, Leon Balogun, Sylvester Igbonu, Rabiu Ibrahim, Ogenyi Onazi, Obiora Nwankwo, Odion Ighalo, Ahmed Musa, Moses Simon, Emmanuel Emenike and Alex Iwobi.
The team will train 10am and 4pm respectively at the same venue on Tuesday.
Çaykur Rizespor’ Godfrey Oboabona is yet to hit camp owing to visa issues in Turkey. In the same vein, the six Nigeria Professional Football League stars invited for the games are yet to be issued visas in Abuja.
They are Femi Thomas, Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Chima Akas, Austin Oboroakpo, Paul Onobi and Prince Aggreh.

Alleged N108bn fraud: EFCC confiscates Governor Akpabio’s wife’s school

A school allegedly belonging to Unoma Akpabio, the wife of the immediate past governor of Akwa Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio, has been seized by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. It was learnt that the seizure was part of investigations into the former governor who has been accused of alleged N108bn fraud during his tenure from 2007 to 2015. One of our correspondents who visited the school, St. John Paul II School, in Shelter Afrique, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, observed that the school had been marked “under investigation by EFCC.” It was learnt that the EFCC resorted to marking the school instead of shutting it so that innocent parents and students who had paid school fees would not be adversely affected.
