Spain surge to sixth place in FIFA rankings

World champions Germany have moved back into second place in the FIFA rankings behind Argentina, the team they beat in the 2014 World Cup final.
The new rankings, released on Thursday, take into account the European Championship qualifiers in September, which ensured 2010 world champions Spain were back into the top 10 in sixth place after two wins.

Seven wins in eight games have taken Spain to the verge of Euro 2016 qualification, where they can challenge for an unprecedented third consecutive continental title.
Belgium are third in the rankings, followed by Portugal and Colombia.
