Martial to wear No.9 at Manchester United


The teenager follows the likes of Brian McClair, Andy Cole and Dimitar Berbatov with his chosen shirt after arriving in a deal that could reportedly be worth as much as €80 million Manchester United have announced that Anthony Martial will wear the number nine shirt after completing his deadline day move to the club from Monaco.

Reports have suggested that United could pay as much as €80 million (£58.8m) for the 19-year-old, and he has now selected his squad number after the deal was officially announced.
The No.9 shirt has a storied history at United, with Brian McClair and Andy Cole the first two custodians in the Premier League era before Louis Saha took it in the 2003-04 season following his move from Fulham.
Dimitar Berbatov was the next incumbent after his £30m move from Tottenham before Radamel Falcao adorned the number for his solitary season at the club.
