Fire guts Lagos Internal Revenue office

The administrative office of Lagos State Internal Revenue Service was gutted by fire early this morning.
The office, popularly known as the Good Shepherd House stands directly opposite the state secretariat, Alausa Ikeja threw occupants and passersby into panic when it suddenly gave out smoke.

The incident happened around 8 am when members of staff were just resuming to work. However, investigation revealed that the fire had already burnt the Director of Administration’ office before the state Fire Service could arrive.
Silverbird Television gathered that the fire incident was cause by power surge in one of the offices. Though a source told our correspondent that the fire incident might not be unconnected with the administrative crisis that is currently going on in the office.
It will be recalled that the state Governor Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode demoted some senior members of LIRS that were earlier promoted by the former DG of LIRS, Mr. Tunde Fowler.
The processes of the purported promotion and the consequent demotion are still under investigation and according to the source have been linked to administrative department of LIRS.
