German woman saved from bullet by bulletproof bra

A woman in Germany survived being accidentally shot in a hunting accident after her bra stopped the bullet.
The bra’s metal underwiring may have saved the 41-year-old tourist’s life after she and her husband unwittingly entered the area of a boar hunt while on a bike ride in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

The pair from North Rhine-Westphalia had been on a country road making their way past a field near the town of Gadebusch when the woman suddenly felt a pain in her chest.
She looked down to see that she had been hit by a bullet, but the underwire of her bra had deflected the blow, leaving the woman with just a bruise.
The woman's husband spotted the 53-year-old alleged shooter in the next field and immediately approached him over what had happened, the Gadebusch-Rehnaer Zeitung reported on Friday.
"Those in charge of the hunt then broke it up straight away," said police spokesman André Falke.
The injured woman was taken to hospital, and police were sent to the scene with metal detectors and sniffer dogs trained to detect explosives to search for further bullet debris.
Mr Falke said that the body of a young wild boar was found in the suspected line of fire, meaning that the bullet that hit the woman could have rebounded off the animal.
Gadebusch Criminal Commission is investigating the incident on suspicion of injury caused by negligence. Investigations are also ongoing into whether or not the so-called harvest hunt was properly signposted.
